| The Object of Wallamoppi |
| In a race against time,
players take turns removing disks
from the Wallamoppi wall, and stacking them on
top to
form a tower. The last player to stack a disk,
in time,
without making the tower fall, wins Wallamoppi! |
| |
| Setting Up |
| 1. |
Remove the Kiwi Disk Bag from the box. |
| 2. |
Give one player a dark Kiwi Disk and
the other player a light Kiwi Disk. These
disks indicate the color each player
will be stacking during Step 2 of the
game. The other 34 disks remain in the
bag. |
| 3. |
Stand the box upright, within reach
of both players, with the hole for the
marble on top. |
| 4. |
Attach the chute to the box, as shown. |
| 5. |
Keep one marble for use in the timer
and set the extra marble aside. |
|
 |
|
| |
| Playing the Game |
| Wallamoppi is played
in two steps. Players start by strategically
placing disks to build the Wallamoppi wall. After
the wall is built, players will quickly remove
disks from
the wall and carefully stack them on top to form
a tower. |
| |
|
| Step 1: Building the
Wall |
| Without looking in
the bag, the person playing “dark” draws
one disk out of the bag and places that disk
flat on the table. The person playing “light” now
draws a disk out of the bag and places it next
to the disk already played. Players continue
taking turns placing one disk at a time until
all disks from the bag have been placed. |
| To complete the Wallamoppi
wall, the person playing “dark” places
the dark disk received at the beginning of the
game. The other player now places his or her
light disk on top. |
| • |
Each player must place
the disk drawn, regardless
of the color of the disk. |
| • |
Each disk must be placed
next to another disk or
centered on top of two disks. |
| • |
Disks must be placed in
a straight line. |
| • |
The completed wall must have eight
disks in the bottom row, seven
disks in the next row and so on,
ending with one disk
on top. |
 |
| |
The top light
Kiwi Disk is the first
disk of the tower. |
| Notes: |
The pattern of light and
dark disks in the wall will vary with
each game, depending upon the placement of the pieces. |
Players should consider
that although each player is placing
both light and dark disks, they will be removing and stacking
only their own colored disks while building the tower. |
|
|
| |
| Step 2: Building the
Tower |
| Within the allotted
time, players take turns removing their own colored
disks from the Wallamoppi wall and stacking them
on top of the tower. |
| 1. |
The person playing “light” starts
the timer for the
other player by dropping the marble in the hole at
the top of the box. |
| 2. |
The person playing “dark” must
remove one dark
disk from the Wallamoppi wall, stack it on the top
light Kiwi Disk, and grab the marble before it drops
into the hole at the end of the chute. |
| 3. |
The person playing “dark” now
drops the marble to
start the timer for the other player. |
| 4. |
The person playing “light” must
remove one light disk from the Wallamoppi
wall, stack it on the top dark Kiwi Disk,
and grab the marble before it drops into
the hole at the end of the chute. |
 |
| 5. |
Players continue taking turns
until the
tower falls or until the marble drops
into the hole at the end of the chute. |
| |
If the marble drops into the
hole
at the end of the chute before
a player has stacked a disk and
grabbed the marble, that player
loses the game. |
| |
|
|
| |
| • |
A player may not touch a disk in the
wall until the other
player has started the timer by releasing the marble. |
| • |
A player may only use one hand to remove
or stack a
disk, but may switch hands at any time. |
| • |
A player may touch more than one disk
within the wall,
as long as it is done with only one hand. |
| • |
In the course of removing a disk from
the wall, other
disks may shift. Those disks stay in their new positions. |
| • |
If a disk in the wall falls when another
disk is removed,
the fallen disk remains where it lands and may be stacked
during a later turn rather than a disk from the wall. |
| • |
Once a disk is removed, and in a player’s
hand, it must
be stacked on top of the tower. |
| • |
A player may only stack one disk on
the tower per turn. |
| • |
When placing a disk on the tower, a
player may not
move any of the disks already in the tower. |
| • |
If one or more disks in the tower
falls, the tower is
considered fallen and the game is over. |
| • |
If the tower falls, the last player
to touch a disk, either
in the tower or the wall, loses the game. |
|
|
| Winning the Game |
| |
The last player to place a disk,
in time, without making
the tower fall, wins Wallamoppi. |
