| Tournament Set-Up and Rules |
| 1. |
Participants should be assigned to boards
to provide balance with respect to age and gender. Try
to separate people who know each so they will not dominate
a game. |
| 2. |
The number of players assigned to each
game should be as equal as possible in order to provide
similar game experiences. For example, if there are 6
players, there should be two games of three players rather
than one four-person game and one two-person game. |
| 3. |
Players should bid to determine who goes
first. The person who wins the bid can choose to go first
or choose to NOT go first. If there are more than two
players and the player who wins the bid chooses NOT to
go first, the remaining players re-bid with the winner
again deciding whether he or she wants to go first. |
| 4. |
To determine first, second and third place
winners, players follow the usual criteria for winning
Shipwrecked. The first player
to win Shipwrecked by earning
150 points in all color groups, or 100 points in one color
group, wins first place. Second place goes to the player
with the highest remaining point total, and third place
goes to the player with the second highest remaining point
total. |
| 5. |
The number of players to advance to the
final round depends on the number of players in the tournament.
The goal is to have three or four players in the final
round. For example, if there are eight players, the first
and second place winners from each of the two first round
games advance to the final round. If there are nine players,
there would be three first round games and only the first
place winner from each of these games would advance to
the final round. |
| 6. |
Winners earn the respect of fellow Shipwrecked
players worldwide for their wisdom, insight and cunning,
and are expected uphold this honored position with grace
and generosity. |
